Acoustic Research AR 15 done

The Acoustic Research AR-15's are back together.

They went from this:

To this:

Work included: fixed one tweeter, repaired front baffles, re glued the foam woofer surrounds, upgraded the caps on the crossover, upgraded the internal dampening material, painted the front baffle gloss black and sanded and refinished the cabinets.

These speakers were worth it.

Acoustic Research AR15 almost there

The weather has turned nicer and I got a chance to work on these speakers.

The caps got replaced.

This damage to the front baffles was filled in and sanded.

I opted for a high gloss paint for the baffles.

Sanded and re finished the walnut veneer.

 

Added dampening material to the inside of the cabinets.

I will give the cabinets 24 hours to cure  before reinstalling the drivers.

I found this Mission brochure over at this site. 

Mission 700 speakers

A pair of original Mission 700 speakers arrived today, this set has already been re foamed and the cabinets are in excellent condition for their age.

The early Mission speakers are always welcome to the listening room/cave.

Absolutely wonderful sounding speaker.
