Braun L200 Speakers

Another local score in the last month was a pair of Braun L200 speakers. As you may know I am a big fan of these German speakers and the drivers they use. They can be found in A/D/S, Visonik, Grundig, Canton, and Heco to name a few.

This pair came in the usual, needs new foam condition and the speaker leads had failed at the solder point, which I have experienced before.

I opted to get rubber surrounds instead of the foam ones for longevity.

I have these currently set up running off my little Fosi Class D amp and they sound wonderful. These make great near field monitors with just enough bass from the 5" woofers. I do note that they are not as efficient as the Canton HC100's but they have better bass extension than the Canton's.

This is a super wonderful little speaker with a great big sound stage and silky smooth treble as with all Braun speakers.

Grundig Box 650B Speakers

A rare pair of speakers to end up in Canada is this pair of Grundig Box 650B speakers. These came up locally and caught my interest. Like the A/D/S, Dual and Braun speakers that have graced my listening space in the past, these are another 3-way German speaker that has the massive mid-range dome.

One speaker had a small rip in the woofer cone and a pushed in dome on the mid-range. I fixed the rip and reformed the dome as best as possible.

Nice addition to the speaker experience.

August 18th update, these little beauties needed a repair to the tweeters, both were blown and these have been sitting is storage, I finally got replacement tweeters and these speakers sound phenomenal. Just like A/D/S, Braun, Visonik speakers in the pas the midrange is very open in these speakers with very good well rounded bass. These speakers are staying and match really well with a tube amplifier.

These are great speakers......
